It's amazing how many local attractions are available for a family day out ~ and how many our family has yet to visit! I think since we have lived in the area our whole married life (and I have lived here my whole life), it's easy to forget how many great places there are to visit right here in our own backyard. One recent afternoon, Eric was in charge of our family day out and chose for us to go to the Museum of Flight. What a great choice!! All of us had a blast ~ especially the kids!! Of course, as you would expect, they have plenty of large replicas of airplanes, many of which you can sit in or walk through. They also have a children's area where the kids can simulate landing a hang glider, pretend to fly a plane or make the balloon rise using hot air in a mock up of a hot air balloon. I think the highlight of the day for the kids was the air traffic control tower, where they could us binoculars to watch real planes taking off and landing at a local air strip. The highlight for me was being able to walk through a real concord jet and the actual Air Force One used by many of our Presidents including Johnson, Nixon, Ford and Carter. For Eric, he loved the WWI and WWII areas in the museum. We are definitely going to take advantage of more of our local entertainment options in the near future!
