A night out with friends ~ bowling!

Isn't it funny how your prospective can change in such a relatively short period of time?? There once was a time when a night out with friends really meant a night out! These days, a night out almost always includes bringing the kids and usually means being home by 7. The funny thing is that it seems just as exciting, if not more so. :) This night we joined our friends for an exciting game of bowling at a little alley in downtown Snoqualmie. Katie and Aidan both love bowling and were really starting to the get hang of it ~ of course, the bumpers didn't hurt!

A sly smile!

A few action shots....

Mylie gets in on the fun giving us a little squeal of excitement!

I think I have a little catch up to do....

I have to admit that I am a bit shocked at how fast time has flown by! We are now coming to the end of January and my last blog entry was from the beginning of December. Not only that, but I have been ignoring the fact that my blog page was still decorated in a Christmas background. Obviously, quite a bit has happened since my last post, but for the sake of time (mine, mostly), I thought I would post a few pictures of the various events over the past month + as a way to do a recap. Here goes....

During the week right before Christmas, Seattle had one of the biggest snow storms that we have had in quite a while - over 10 years at least. On one of the first days of snow, as we are talking about going sledding and building snowmen, Aidan comes downstairs with his bathing suit on and informs us that he wants us to get the swimming pool out and that he wants to go swimming. Of course, Aidan and I went back and forth about how it was too cold outside for swimming, etc, etc. I even had him open the door so he could feel how cold it was outside (a technique I use a lot so that the kids can use their own judgement about the weather outside instead of always hearing me say, "it's too cold for the park," or "no sweaters today, it's too warm.") Even after his own test, he insisted that it was warm outside and that he wanted to go swimming. So - as any evil mother would do, I decided that the best way for him to learn was to let him try it. With snow on the ground, Aidan headed outside for a "swim". I have to admit that the picture is not that good, but the moment was just too great not to immortalize in the blog. :)
Frozen toes!! I don't think he will be swimming in the snow anytime soon!

A few more cute snow pictures that we took during the snow....

Heading out to play! One of our neighbors created a toboggan run in their driveway - fun!

This next picture was taken at the holiday gymnastics recital that the kids put on through their gymnastics studio. They both were darling!
