Arrr Matey!

I swear - kids are so darn creative. To preface this post, I don't think we have ever seen a pirate movie in our house - except of course Peter Pan - which would count if Captain Hook ever said "Arrr Matey" during the movie. (Maybe he does - then this whole thing would make more sense to me :)) Anyway, one day, Aidan puts on his winter hat, covers one eye with the hat and starts pretending to use his hand as a sword, yelling "Arrr Matey" and - although I honestly have no idea what he was really doing, I can guess he was pretending to defend something. The pictures and the videos capture how cute he was much better then I will ever do in words. :) What a cute boy!!

When I grow up

College should be a breeze for us with Katie -because she has already decided what she wants to be when she grows up - and so far, her choices definitely don't have any specific scholastic requirements. :) Since Katie was 3 she has been telling us that when she grows up she wants to be a cheerleader. Of course, at 3, she wanted to be a cheerleader and a mother. Since then, she has informed us that being a mom is too hard, and that job title has been removed from her list. Now, at 5 1/2, cheerleading still reins supreme on her list, but she has most recently added artist and swimmer - most specifically a swimmer that we can watch on TV. See - I told you, college smollege. :) Now - I have to admit, Katie can move! She is a great little dancer and has rhythm that must have been passed down from some distant relative. She is also a GREAT artist - which she definitely gets from her dad. As for swimming - hmmmm - that one is any one's guess.

Dancing, sometimes with the addition of her pom poms, is a very common occurrence for Katie - so I thought I would share a few pictures. She has even managed to get Aidan involved...should I be worried??

Video game mania!

OK seriously - what is it about boys and their video games?? I will admit that there has been more than one occasion when video games, or should I say the playing of the games, has caused a little bit of a rift in our marriage (to which Eric always reminds me that I have personally bought him every single video game system that he has ever owned in our marriage - don't worry, I don't know what my problem is either :)). Generally however, I really don't mind him being distracted with his own form of enjoyment. My real attention to this issue came when Aidan, who has always been my late sleeper and usually would sleep in until around 7:30, started getting up at 6 asking to play "the racing game" aka: Mario Kart Wii. The one good thing I will admit to Aidan's new love of "Mario Batari" as he calls it - is that I can get him to obey in a split second by simply threatening to put it on time out. :) Oh - the joys of manipulative parenting. Don't worry - we are definitely managing this issue, but I had to share a few pictures that Eric took of Aidan playing when we first got the game. If you look in the bottom left corner of the TV screen in the pictures, you will see him moving up from 12th place to the last picture where Katie is cheering that he took first. Oh boy! (literally!!)

What's in a name....

A friend of mine posted this information on her blog so I had to check it out for myself. So fun! Of course, this may just show how easy it is to make me happy (shhhh - don't tell Eric!) Apparently, Katie, Aidan and Mylie are the only ones in the US with their full names (first and last). There are 2 people that have my full name and 5 people that have Eric's full name. To be honest, there are actually 4 people that have my full name if I use my real first name which is Carolyn, but who would want to use that anyway?? What's funny is that one of the other 4 people with my same name actually lives in the same area as I do and used to bank at the same bank where I used to work. Now that's a small world! And how popular is our last name?? Apparently it comes in at the 15,605th most popular last name. I think I could have told you that! ;) As for the popularity of our first names - here you go! There are 835,606 people with the first name of Eric, 261,701 with the first name of Carrie, 172,937 with the name Katie, and less than 1,530 with the first name of Aidan or Mylie. FYI - this information is according to howmanyofme.com.
